Wharekauhau

Wharekauhau is a magical haven of peace and solitude from the outside world.

Wharekauhau Country Estate is situated on a 5000-acre sheep station overlooking Palliser Bay and is surrounded by native forests, beaches, rivers, lakes and wetlands.

The main lodge recaptures the gracious lifestyle of a bygone era. Accommodation comprises luxurious guest cottages located throughout the grounds complete with deep sofas, fluffy pillows, marbled floors and a fireplace and are set high above the thunderous blue surf of Palliser Bay.

The kitchen has adopted a "locavorian" approach to planning menus and selecting produce. Everything is sourced fresh from their own gardens or in surrounding areas.

Recreation activities are extensive: a full service spa, swimming pool, archery, surfcasting, quad biking or horse riding - then wind down with a wine tasting at the end of the day.

Spa: full service
Pool: Indoor heated
