Zanzibar White Sand Luxury Villas & Spa is a family‑owned, Relais & Châteaux boutique retreat nestled on the pristine white sands of Paje Beach on Zanzibar’s east coast.
Nestled within lush tropical gardens spanning some 3.6–4 hectares, the property combines minimalist, naturalist architecture with sustainable credentials—it’s the first off‑grid resort on the island, powered by solar energy, on‑site water desalination, composting and an organic vegetable and herb garden.
The resort comprises just 11 private villas and three Cinnamon rooms, ensuring both seclusion and exclusivity. Each villa—including one‑, two‑ and five‑bedroom (presidential) layouts—features its own plunge pool, private garden, terrace, high‑ceiling living space, master suite with king‑size bed, indoor rain shower and an outdoor bathtub beneath swaying palms. All villas are air‑conditioned, offer Wi‑Fi, butler service, and direct beach or garden access.
Dining reflects White Sand’s philosophy: gourmet, locally sourced, and environmentally conscious. The fine‑dining restaurant Doors to Zanzibar serves à la carte breakfasts, dinners and can accommodate private or rooftop romantic meals. The adjacent beach restaurant offers light lunches, seafood barbecues, crisp salads and smoothies overlooking the ocean. With half‑board as standard, guests may upgrade to full board or all‑inclusive—covering soft drinks, house wines and selected spirits. Private in‑villa dining is available 24/7, including floating breakfasts for villa guests. All dietary requests can be tailored via the chef upon arrival.
Facilities at White Sand are wide‑ranging yet understated. Two communal pools (one with a shallow children’s section), a well‑equipped outdoor gym, spa complex with massage huts, sauna, steam room and relaxation areas, a lounge library with pool table, rooftop champagne bar and boutique selling Tanzanite jewellery and local sarongs all contribute to a resort of quiet luxury. A full kite‑surf and watersports centre operates directly on Paje Beach, supporting kitesurfing (seasonal), paddle‑boarding, kayaking, Hobie Cat sailing, snorkeling and boating. Excursions to Jozani forest (famous for red colobus monkeys), Stone Town, spice farms, dolphin trips or safari day‑tours are easily arranged by the concierge. Bikes are complimentary for exploring the resort or nearby village.
