Wilderness Magashi

Witness the abundance of Akagera National Park from Wilderness Magashi.

Wilderness Magashi is situated in the productive and phenomenally diverse north-eastern corner of Akagera National Park, overlooking scenic Lake Rwanyakazinga. Akagera comprises some of the most scenic savannah in East Africa – open plains, woodlands, lakes, swamp and grassy low mountains – and is home to one of Africa’s highest hippo densities, large crocodiles, as well as the rare sitatunga and boasting an impressive 520 species of birds.

Perched like butterflies on the shores of Lake Rwanyakazinga, Magashi’s eight spacious tented suites welcome you to an intimate wilderness area, surrounded by one of the most serene landscapes imaginable - the ideal stage for exceptional safari adventures.

Meals at Magashi are designed with sustainability in mind, offering healthy flavourful recipes that tread lightly on the Earth. The menu heroes Rwanda’s indigenous ingredients, local dishes and fresh produce. Sample the famous ‘Rolex’ breakfast wrap - a signature choice - and a travelling Kugisha dinner, which is served with a collection of traditional stories and songs.
