Kisawa Sanctuary

Kisawa means unbreakable, and this defines it's commitment: to build a bond between people and place, life and land.

Kisawa Sanctuary is a new concept in luxury hospitality, celebrating the unbreakable bond between people and land. Sitting on 5km of pristine tropical coastline, Kisawa has been created to ensure maximum privacy, with minimum impact on the natural environment, showcasing a rich design culture that celebrates craft and heritage.

17 spacious bungalows comprising 11 Residences invite guests to utilise the vast space and intuitive hospitality to ‘discover their own rhythm’. Some Residences lie on the calm cove side, others shelter high up in the dunes on the ocean side, yet all are carefully positioned within their own secluded plot of at least one acre.

Throughout all culinary destinations at Kisawa, the ethos remains the same: to bring the best of Africa and Mozambique, in a fresh and modern way. Kisawa has built a network of farmers and fishermen supplying natural, local produce from within 300km of the sanctuary. As much as possible is grown in house and made within the Kisawa Kitchen. From jams and pickles, to charcuterie and cheese, Kisawa is proud to express local flavours.

Kisawa’s stand-alone spa specialises in integrated holistic healing. the programme of guest experiences ranges from adventure, water sports, conservation and community building through to culinary focused activities like bespoke dune glamping, moonlight BBQ’s and beach side picnics. Activities change monthly to reflect the season and visiting wildlife.

Home to over 200 bird species, 2000 fish species and boasting expansive beaches, rolling sand dunes and towering palm trees, it is an invitation for uninhibited exploration and reconnection with the natural environment. The rich marine life of the region makes diving and snorkelling a thrilling experience, with Kisawa’s Big Ocean Five concept focusing on humpback whales, dolphins, turtles and the largest population of dugongs in the West Indian Region.
