ITINERARY

Day 1

ARRIVAL AND BADLANDS NATIONAL PARK

Welcome to South Dakota! Kick off your trip with a sunset tour of Badlands National Park that will reveal the area’s rich geological history and abundant wildlife. Admire dramatic rock formations, wide open prairies and towering spires as your guide leads you off the beaten path to some of the park’s best lookout points and hiking trails. Before returning to your hotel, enjoy a natural light show that as the setting sun’s rays alter the colors of this dramatic landscape. 

Day 2

MOUNT RUSHMORE AND THE CRAZY HORSE MEMORIAL

Today, make your way to Mount Rushmore National Memorial and admire the colossal granite faces of presidents past as your guide relays the history behind this iconic national treasure. Then, take off on a private helicopter tour to see the monument at the presidents’ eye level. Spot prairie dogs and bison as you cap off the afternoon traveling through Custer State Park to the Crazy Horse Memorial, a gargantuan sculpture that commemorates the region’s indigenous peoples and dwarfs even Mt. Rushmore in scale.

Day 3

BLACK HILLS NATIONAL FOREST BIKE TOUR

This morning, you will embark tailored half-day bike ride on the Mickelson Trail. From Edgemont to Deadwood, the trail stretches nearly 109 miles (175km) along Black Hills National Forest. This hilly rail-trail crosses more than 100 railroad bridges and goes through four tunnels. Based on your interest, your guide will select a portion of the trail for you to explore while learning about the its history and witnessing its beauty. At the end of your trip, return to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at your leisure. 

Day 4

SOUTH DAKOTA TO WYOMING

Wind your way through South Dakota’s otherworldly Black Hills before arriving in Buffalo, Wyoming, to spend the night The Occidental Hotel, a historic frontier inn that once hosted the likes of Theodore Roosevelt, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Along the way, you may elect to make a detour to visit the United States’ very first national monument, the Devil’s Tower where you can take a hike along one of its hiking trails to get an up close look at this fascinating natural feature. 

Day 5

WYOMING FRONTIER HISTORY

Take in sweeping views of the rugged Bighorn Range, as you proceed to Cody, Wyoming, an authentic frontier town named after the Wild West legend, William Frederick “Buffalo Bill” Cody. Join a museum expert for a VIP tour of the Buffalo Bill Center of The West to gain an insightful perspective on this region’s colorful history.

Day 6

CODY TO WEST YELLOWSTONE

This morning, make your way through Yellowstone National Park before arriving in the town of West Yellowstone to check into your cozy private cabin. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure to explore your new surroundings perhaps enjoy some self-guided exploration in the park.

Day 7

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

Today, meet your naturalist driver guide for a private tour of Yellowstone National Park's upper loop. The upper loop offers numerous opportunities to search for the area’s resident wildlife in its natural habitat, explore backcountry geysers and enjoy hike along secluded canyons. Your local guide knows the park intimately and will custom tailor the day’s itinerary to include highlights such as the Lamar Valley, The Grand Canyon of The Yellowstone, Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces, Obsidian Cliffs and numerous thundering waterfalls. During your tour, you will pause to enjoy a picnic lunch at a comfortable and scenic location. Afterwards, you may either set out on a short hike or continue making stops along the loop before returning to your hotel to enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 8

YELLOWSTONE TO GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK

Make your way from West Yellowstone to Jackson Hole this morning, stopping along the route to meet your guide for another day of Yellowstone touring. Today, your tour will be focused on the park's lower loop, home to some of Yellowstone's most famous geological features such as the Grand Prismatic Spring and the iconic Old Faithful Geyser. Break for a leisurely lunch at the historic Old Faithful Inn, thought to be the largest log cabin in the world. Spend the rest of the afternoon searching for wildlife and taking in Yellowstone's breathtaking scenery one last time before exiting the park and making your way to the charming mountain town of Jackson.

Day 9

GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK

Gear up for a memorable day of spectacular mountain views and world-class wildlife viewing as you head out on a wildlife safari in Grand Teton National Park; keep an eye out for the herds of bison and pronghorn– as well as the occasional grizzly bear– that can be found in this breathtaking region. Stop at the visitor center before making your way to the impressive Jenny Lake, formed by glaciers thousands of years ago! Next stop is the top of Signal Mountain, for magnificent views of the park and the Teton mountain range. On the way back down the mountain, be ready to pass several picture-worthy sights like Jackson Lake and Snake River. Finish your day with a drive on Moose-Wilson Road which is lined with all kinds of interesting wildlife from beavers to herons!

Day 10

SNAKE RIVER FLOAT TRIP

Take to the blue waters of the Snake River this morning for an educational and inspirational float amongst the stunning backdrop of the Jackson Hole valley! You will float 7-miles worth of river, enjoying commentary and wildlife watching with the help of your guide's experienced eyes. Mid-way through the trip, your guide will expertly navigate your raft onto the rocky river shoreline, allowing you to disembark for a delicious lunch spread at a private riverside camp. Stretch your legs and explore the river setting, enjoying the chance for group photos and a nice after-lunch catnap in the sun. Enjoy more scenic views as you head downriver for the last leg of your trip. Disembark at the takeout point and be privately transferred back to your resort to spend the rest of your day at leisure.

Day 11

DEPARTURE

After breakfast today, make your way to Jackson Hole Airport, where you will either begin the drive home, or drop off your rental car in time for your flight.
